How HUFP football is played, plus general Texas references for amateur and recreational play. This page is informational — not legal advice.
HUFP football is played 5v5 to 8v8 on a hard court (asphalt or sport surface). Match length depends on the event — open sessions run 60–90 minutes, league matches are 2 × 12 minutes.
Nations League teams may register up to 10 players. Open Sessions accept individual sign-ups; teams are balanced on-site.
Rolling substitutions are allowed throughout the match. Subs enter only when the player they are replacing has left the court.
Each team plays with one goalkeeper. Keepers cannot pick up back-passes.
Out of bounds restarts are kick-ins (no throw-ins). Corners and free kicks are direct unless the referee indicates otherwise.
Slide tackles are not permitted. Persistent fouling, dangerous play, or unsporting conduct results in a 2-minute power play or, for serious offenses, a red card.
If more than one team registers for the same country, those teams play a qualifier match before the main tournament. The winner is the official representative of that nation.
A team that fails to field the minimum number of players within 10 minutes of the scheduled kick-off forfeits the match.
